Noha El Baghdady gained extra weight when after her pregnancy she overindulged in devouring high-cal food.
She’s lost 7st 8lbs* and shares her inspiring story here..
“When I found out I was expecting, I was pretty slim. I used my pregnancy as a chance to indulge in all the naughty foods, like cake, pizza and chocolate, that I’d denied myself during years of yo-yo dieting. I thought the weight I gained would come off as soon as the baby arrived. Instead, takeaways, a sedentary lifestyle and a love of delicious (and, sadly, oily) Egyptian food meant I just kept getting bigger, until my trousers were too tight to fasten.” she shared.
She often felt bad and disappointed getting exhausted most of the time running after Omar, her child. Her father has a history of diabetes and has died of heart disease and she was afraid to suffer the same fate so she took action.
“I’d failed at many diets over the years, so I never imagined Slimming World might work for me. But when I joined Lezley-Anne’s group in September 2012 I was inspired, and the next day I took myself off to the supermarket to buy supplies of fresh vegetables, meat and fish.”
4lbs was shed only at her first week, she knew that she has to change her lifestyle completely to achieve greater numbers.
“It was time to stop relying on fast food and learn how to make low-Syn versions of Egyptian dishes like stuffed vine leaves, vegetable dips and stews. I don’t think it would have worked if I’d had to faff about doing lots of weighing and measuring, or if I hadn’t been allowed to have my favourite indulgences when I fancied them.
After one year she reached her target weight and aimed for a bit more. She can now match the energy of her son. She’s enjoying skinny jeans, too. She spends more time with Omar, going swimming, playing ball or just running around, being silly together. She’s happy and proud of herself and that made her relationship with her son better. She’s no longer slow and frumpy.
